Consolation

This Sunday’s Gospel brings us probably the most consoling words of Jesus to us. He says “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

One of the important points to note from this verse is that you still need to pick up the yoke. But the yoke ties two oxen together, hence what Jesus is saying is essentially that He will walk together with you.

For me, this message has a lot of meaning because it was at my first Landing’s retreat where I pick up this verse. It confirmed my understanding that this was the ministry God needed me to be in.

And again today in 2020, when this verse in read in the Sunday gospel. I am again reminded of it because tonight, we kick-off a new Landings run for a new parish. This will be a trial of sorts of running the program via Zoom and its an orientation run to familiarise this new parish folks’ to be able to take and run this program on their own in the future.

So the mission continues.
