Gospel reflection : John 16 : 12-15
When I think of Trinity Sunday, I’m reminded of these lyrics:
“No way can we understand the meaning of his plan
Because God is to big
What box could we ever build that could hold His will?
Because God is too big, Yeah!”
Some say the most puzzling, the most misunderstood and unpopular doctrine is the doctrine of the Trinity.
Maybe because God is too big, to be boxed in.
Maybe because our minds are too small to comprehend God in his magnificence.
If he were just our Father, then how could we be his friend? And if he was just our friend, how can we respect him as the Almighty? And if he were both, who would inspire our little lives and journey with us on our earthly walk?
So maybe God really reflects Mr BIG. Not the Carrie Bradshaw one, but the rock band with the hit song – To be With You:
“I’m the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you”
Just as the Cathecism of the Catholic Church says :
260 The ultimate end of the whole divine economy is the entry of God’s creatures into the perfect unity of the Blessed Trinity. But even now we are called to be a dwelling for the Most Holy Trinity: “If a man loves me”, says the Lord, “he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him”: |
Our Triune God wants to be united with our souls. Shall we open this door of faith and extend the invitation to Him?
